Alay: Philippine Native Trees is a pictorial guide to over 300 Philippine Native Trees. This book is a collaborative project among experts from the Philippine Native Trees Enthusiasts group – Victor Ramos (Editor), authors Pastor L. Malabrigo Jr., Arthur Glenn A. Umali, Basil Castaño (co-editor), Joel Sayo (layout artist), Cel Tungol (Project Director) - with the objective of making a good reference guide about Philippine native trees for like-minded enthusiasts.
The Victor O. Ramos arboretum in Natividad, Pangasinan showcases more than 300 Philippine native trees and is the product of over two decades of hard work. Nurturing and protecting these trees was a true labor of love. Together with the PNTE, it is now being brought to the public for the very first time.
Alay (which means “to offer,” or “an offering” in Tagalog) is a humble gift to all enthusiasts, environmentalists and fellow protectors of this precious resource, It is also dedicated to tomorrow’s custodians - may it give the inspiration to grow and protect beloved Philippine native trees.
